Breaking Ice
This is a piece of art I submitted into the IYAC 2023 Summer. It's name is "Breaking Ice". I spent approximately 4-5 months working on it. This was inspired by my love for the idea of alternate realities and different worlds.
ART PROJECTS

Insight

The fox was drawn with several steps. Firstly, I had to sketch the anatomy of the body. Next, I worked on the fur, which took a long time since I had to draw each piece individually. After that, I added color and some ink pen details. In the picture, the fox is trying to break the ice that is blocking its way to an underwater city by jumping on it repeatedly. This is similar to how real foxes hunt for small animals hiding under the snow and ice in winter.

The underwater city was simpler. I drew inspiration from real-life coral varieties, integrating them into the city design. There are also robotic fish and other underwater creatures. After sketching my ideas, I brought them to life with color. The meaning of this piece is to show the difference of the worlds, the fox’s world and this mysterious underwater world under the ice.

Piecing Peace
This is the art piece submitted to 2024 Spring IYAC. It's name is "Piecing Peace". It took around 3-4 months to complete. This was inspired by the idea of working together to create a desired reality and helping each other to support the idea of peace versus the reality of war.

Insight

The dove here was drawn with ink pen. It symbolizes peace, and the idea of humans helping one another. As you can see in the picture, it is holding a basket which represents giving people things, such as food and help.

The people here are on floating puzzle-piece islands, with each piece showing a different scene. For example, on one piece, people are working together to clean up trash from the beach, while on another, they’re planting trees. This symbolizes the importance of helping each other.

The soldiers show the difference between a desired world versus the world right now. They also show how they are supporting the people on the puzzle pieces to live in harmony.

China Travels
This is a piece of art that represents my travels in China. I saw a lot of historic monuments, such as The Temple of Confucius, the Summer Palace etc. The piece also has some of my favorite foods from my China travels, like a sweet and sour fish, Tanghulu, etc. It was very interesting to learn about Chinese culture, such as family ranking, and it was very fun to experience new things and places, some futuristic, some old-fashioned.
It impacted me by the difference between the US and China as the architecture and art which made me want to express my experience in art. Overall, China was a great place to travel as the culture is drastically different and there are many things to experience that aren’t in the US.

Through the Window
This is a sketch of a cat that is sitting on a table. It is looking outside, as the background has the shadow of a plant with the yellow light pouring through a window, highlighting the cat on the table. This was the second piece I did that included fur.

05
Bluejay
This originally started out as just a still life of a water bottle spray, but then I found a picture of a bluejay and decided to incorporate it into the drawing. This started my journey of drawing animals and fur.

06
Cat Life
This is an art piece of my cats. There are 4 smaller pictures, each showing a part of my cat. Then, there is a bigger sketch of my cat, James with a funny expression. I chose to create this piece because my cats have been a significant part of my life for many years. They've taught me invaluable lessons, especially about responsibility, as caring for them has helped me develop good habits and a deep sense of compassion for all living beings.

Certificates
These are the certificates and award I got from my piece; "Breaking Ice".

PHOTOGRAPH
GROW MY ART
I am also very interested in photography, because it captures little moments of life at just the right time. It may seem easy, but you need to take a lot of photos just to find the right one. Each photograph tells a different story of a different person's life. What are they doing, thinking, etcetera.
Highlight: PHOTOGRAPHY

Here are some photos from my trip to New York City, all taken at the Brooklyn Bridge. My goal was to compare and contrast two distinct areas: the bustling sections and the more secluded spots. These images also highlight the different angles from which I captured the scenes. What I find interesting about the more bustling pictures are each person’s life, what they are thinking, doing, etc. It’s fascinating to think that people have other lives outside of your own interaction points.
